SEO Tips Day 7 – Would buying links get you banned from Google ?

Posted: 17 Oct 2009 11:03 PM PDT

Getting backlinks to your website is definitely the most important thing to do in SEO. But how do you handle it ? Link exchanges don't work any more. Link baits, are good but they might take long to get the results you want as its a natural process.

Many webmasters lose patience with the natural link building methods, writing clever articles and waiting to get the links. Its not a fruitful exercise most of the time.

So the next best option with immediate results is buying links (unfortunately).

The problem with buying links is that –

- Though you may think its a nice deal, you would've gathered completely irrelevant links.

- You take the huge risk of getting your site banned.

- You also take the huge risk of connecting to a bad neighbourhood.

So yes, buying links can get you banned from Google's search index. So unless you a have huge fan following and "other methods of promotion", stay away from buying links.

p.s – Though buying links are often troublesome, you sometimes have to take the dive and buy a few links just to get some traction at least initially. But make sure you buy only relevant links and take a lot of time finding out possible relevant partners, and not a link vendor who'd sell links to anyone who pays him.

Alternatively, you could use link baits, or resourceful articles from your site to get linked contextually, thereby minimizing the risk.

SEO Tips Day 6 – Use of Keywords in Page Title

Posted: 17 Oct 2009 08:46 AM PDT

So we know page titles are one of the most important factors when it comes to on-site SEO. And what are the best ways to "manipulate" it to get maximum SEO benefits ?

pagetitles-seo

One of the accepted and most widely used technique is to segment the Page Title based on importance.
Ex – The first part of the page title is considered more important than the last part.

And therefore, many SEOs believe that adding your primary keywords on the first part of page title is a great way to tell the search engines that this is what we are focusing on.

Ex:- "Smile Therapy Clinic New York – Your smile will never be the same !"

Above given is a good page title, because the primary keyword "Smile Therapy Clinic New York" is well fitting in the first part of the Page Title and search engines can instantly match it with the page content to "highlight it".

So, how does your Page Title look ? Does it have your primary keyword on the first part – Or do you have another good idea ?
